Maurice is listed on the War Memorial<\/a><\/em> as one of those who gave his life during the First World War.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Maurice was born in 1891 at St Saviour, London as the third child of James Bardolph Wedge & Alice Laura, nee Brooks. He had two siblings, namely: James Bardolph William and Edgar Charles Gordon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1901 he lived with his grandmother, Maria Brooks, and his two brothers at Repps Road,<\/a><\/em> Martham. He was recorded in the 1911 census living in Black Street<\/a><\/em>, Martham with his uncle, Edgar Brooks when he was 19 and a general labourer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He enlisted as Private G\/24549 at Great Yarmouth in 1916 with the 7th Battalion the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment). Formerly 9355, Royal Sussex Regiment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maurice died of war wounds on 21st October 1916 at Moore Barracks, Shorncliffe following action in France & Flanders, he was 24. He was buried on 26th October 1916 at St Mary’s graveyard<\/a><\/em> section H, plot D18.
Moore Barracks, Shorncliffe  was used as a staging post for troops destined for the Western Front during the First World War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
