Leslie is listed on the War Memorial <\/a><\/em>as one of those who gave his life during the First World War.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Leslie is listed on Martham War Memorial <\/a><\/em>along with his first cousin Lewis Ernest Dyball. Leslie\u2019s mother was Christiana Elizabeth Dyball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leslie was born in 1891 and at the time of the 1901 census, when he was nine, he lived with his grandparents Thomas & Maria, nee Kerrison at Hemsby Road<\/a><\/em>, Martham. His grandfather was a farmer. His mother had married and had two sons who were the half brothers of Leslie. She lived at Damgate <\/a><\/em>with her new family. His mother, Christiana, died in 1905 and by April 1911 Leslie lived with his uncle Edward Arthur Dyball at The Green<\/a><\/em>, Martham and was a wagoner on a farm. When he was 21 he married Ellen May Smith on 31st<\/sup> October 1912 at Winterton-on-Sea and they had two daughters: Phyllis in 1913 and Edna in 1917.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leslie served in the military between 1915\u20131918 in 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment, Royal Army Service Corp. He was killed in action on 23rd<\/sup> October 1918 in France and Flanders aged 26. He was awarded the British Medal, the Victory Medal and the Star. He was buried in 1918 in Ovillers New Communal Cemetery, Solesmes, Nord, France. Section A, grave 7\/26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
