Coins of this period should not really be found in the parish of Martham at all but one has been found, all be it in poor condition.
Iceni coins were a distinctive adaptation of the Gallo-Belgic “face\/horse” design although there are some, mostly from near Norwich, where the horse was replaced with a boar. Some coins are inscribed ECENI, making them the only coin-producing group to use their tribal name on coins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Iceni were a significant power in eastern England during the Roman conquest. Increasing Roman influence on their affairs led to the later revolt led by Boudicca, also spelled Boadicea or Boudica.
