Rev. Dockwra was born in 1676 at Cherry Hinton, Cambridge where he was baptised on 12th<\/sup> September that year. His parents were Ralph Dockwra & Anne, nee Peachy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas achieved his B.A. at Peterhouse College, Cambridge and was ordained as a deacon on 18th<\/sup> September 1697 at Norwich Cathedral Church. He was ordained as a priest on 25th<\/sup> May 1700, also at Norwich and became a Reader at St Nicholas Church, Great Yarmouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was employed as a schoolmaster at Gorleston Grammar School on 14th<\/sup> September 1706 and as a curate and schoolmaster at Oulton, Suffolk at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He became a curate covering both Hemsby and Martham on 5th<\/sup> October 1716 and continued in that role until 1718 when on 19th<\/sup> April that year he was appointed as the Rector at Clippesby, Norfolk.<\/p>\n\n\n

Thomas died on 27th<\/sup> August 1719 at Clippesby and was buried in the chancel at St Mary the Virgin<\/a><\/em>, Martham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
