William Mackay may have also been known as Guliemum Mackay and was born in Scotland but the date is unknown. He gained an MA in Scotland and went on to hold several posts in East Norfolk after joining the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was ordinated as a curate at Westminster on 20th<\/sup> December 1713 and was the curate at Felsham, Suffolk from then until 1722. He was given a licence to be a schoolmaster \u201cat Felsham or elsewhere within the Diocese of Norwich\u201d between 21st<\/sup> July 1716 and 1722.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was employed as a curate from 1721 to 1723 at St Mary the Virgin<\/a><\/em>, Martham and must have continued living in the village, despite holding other posts nearby, because he was listed in the Martham Electoral Register<\/a><\/em> as entitled to vote in 1734. On 6th<\/sup> August 1739 he had a licence to teach at the Free School<\/a><\/em> in Martham as the Parish Clerk and schoolmaster. At the same time, he was the vicar at Runham from 20th<\/sup> June 1722 to 10th<\/sup> September 1725.<\/p>\n\n\n

He was the Rector at Upton & Fishly, Norfolk from 12th<\/sup> November 1723 until his death in 1752 after the two parish churches came together under his care.  He was also a curate between 5th<\/sup> July 1735 and 1752 at Repps cum Bastwick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He died in 1752 and was buried on 17th July at St Mary the Virgin<\/a><\/em> but his exact burial plot is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n
