Edward is listed on the War Memorial<\/a><\/em> as one of those who gave his life during the First World War.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Edward was born on 7th<\/sup> August 1898 in Martham. He was the seventh child of Daniel Utting & and Mary Ann, nee Smith. He had eight siblings, namely: Daniel (b1881); Sarah (b1886); Edith (b1888); James (b1892); Agnes (b1894); Sidney (b1896); Gladys (b1899) & Stanley (b1902).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he was 2, Edward was included in the 1901 census living with his parents at Hemsby Road,<\/a><\/em> Martham. He was admitted to the village school<\/a><\/em> on 21st<\/sup> September 1903 and attended regularly until he was 14 and was withdrawn on 24th<\/sup> August 1912. He was listed in the 1911 census living with his parents at Gibbet Hill, Hemsby Road, Martham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He served in the army with the 7th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment having enlisted at Wroxham in 1918. His military serial number was G\/18528. He was killed in action with the British Expeditionary Force on 18th<\/sup> September 1918 and is buried at Epehy Wood Farm Cemetery, Epehy, Somme, France. Plot II. Row B. Grave 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
