Arthur Frederick Brunson (1892-1919) of Martham<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arthur is listed on the War Memorial<\/a><\/em> as one of those who gave his life during the First World War.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Arthur was born on 27th October 1892 in Martham. He was the second child of James William Brunson & Ellen, nee Goodson. He had eleven siblings, namely: Dora, James William, Elsie Maud, Sidney, Kathleen, Benjamin George, Cyril Robert, Walter Clifford, Hilda May, Mabel Irene, and Ruth. Arthur was baptized on 4th December 1892 at St Mary’s.<\/a><\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1901 & 1911 each census showed he was living at Elsie Cottage, Somerton Road<\/a><\/em> with his parents and he was an agricultural labourer. Elsie Cottages were a terrace of three at the Church Hall end of Somerton Road<\/a> <\/em>on the left as you head west just before the sharp bend near the church. Two bungalows now occupy the plots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arthur was a member of the Royal Naval Reserve which was a volunteer force of the Royal Navy and he was called into action with HMS City of London Royal Naval Reserve. His military serial number was Able Seaman SA 1519.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arthur died on 12th March 1919, aged 26. He was buried on 15th March 1919 in St Mary’s graveyard<\/a><\/em> section H, plot F40 and is also commemorated on the War Memorial<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
